The
resulting effort was the identification of three
to five specific data for assessment of each
targeted impact.
The committee also received a copy of the Communities
That Care survey (December 2003). It was administrated
in the Logan-Hocking School District. In Hocking
County approximately 98% of the students attend
the Logan-Hocking School District. Results of
the data obtained from the CTC Survey served
to enhance the Needs Assessment process by providing
a very in-depth detailed picture of our youth.
The group did not rely heavily upon the CTC
Survey Report as the basis for the Needs Assessment
process because of their concern about the ability
to re-administer the survey in the future. There
are no guarantees it will be conducted again.
The group chose to track each impact through
identified data using their respective sources
known to be consistent, reliable, and available.
Additional data collection efforts focused
on the community valuing component of the PfS
Needs Assessment process. The group developed
and implemented a community survey. The survey
was designed to be simple. Each survey participant
was to indicate the one targeted impact they
felt was the biggest issue facing youth within
Hocking County. There were 525+ surveys completed.
According to the NCS Pearson web page confidence
level calculator, the survey results are +/-
3.6% correct with a 90% confidence level.
The same survey was conducted online through
the Logan-Hocking School District’s web
page. Results were tracked electronically by
response per question and not by individual
survey records and therefore remained separate
from the above. The surveys completed from the
web site totaled 119 and, although statistically
the sample size is small, the results paralleled
that of the above mentioned process. The survey
used in both cases was nearly identical. A copy
of the survey instrument can be found in Attachment
II.
Although the group will continue to look at
data, it was at this point they chose to freeze
data collection and push forward with the Partnerships
for Success worksheets numbers one through four.
The Partnerships for Success Model suggests
that each individual member of the group complete
Worksheet #1 prior to discussion. The committee
chose to have the expert in each respective
impact complete the written form, present it
for group discussion, and then complete the
priority ranking worksheet (number two) as a
group. Worksheets number three and number four
were completed using the same respective process.
Copies of completed worksheets can be found
in Attachment III.
The final step was to place each piece of data
into a PfS recommended data template. While
not every piece of data is found in the analysis
section of the six targeted impacts, every piece
of data can be found in Attachment IV. The data
is presented, described, graphed, and its source
is documented. All data found in the body of
the report are fully documented in Attachment
IV.
