Targeted impact: Behaviors associated with mental illness

The community believes that behaviors associated with mental illness are more frequent when it goes undiagnosed, so strategy development focused on ways to identify mental health problems earlier.

Success measure(s): Number of children involved in juvenile court.

Number of children in out-of-school placements.

Data Support: Juvenile court records. School records.

Risk factors,

protective factors

and assets (RPA): Access to quality mental health.

Priority RPA: Access to quality mental health services.

Strategies are created to impact RPAs

(Example: to reduce risks or increase protective factors).

Therefore, Hocking County explored strategies to provide

better access to quality mental health (priority RPA).

Identify Areas of High Risk: Middle and high school. Gaps: After school.

Alternative School (Identify students). Ages 10-18.

We have chosen in Hocking County to focus resources on gaps and high-risk areas identified.

Data Support: Number of referrals/intakes.

Attendance at scheduled appointments.

Systems: The mental health service most needed is prevention and early intervention.

Goal: The Hocking County PFS mental health priority is to improve access to mental health (RPA) by expanding prevention and early intervention programming available in identified areas of high risk (middle and high school, alternative school and after school).
